SADIE FLYNN BRINGS ON THE LAUGHS
Sadie Flynn Comes to Big Oak
by Norm Foster will open at Masquers Theater in Soap
Lake on February 22.
Foster, a Canadian
playwright, has been causing gales of laughter in theatres across
Cynthia Dano plays the charming and dangerous
Sadie Flynn, freshly released from prison.
She has served her time for shooting her
husband, and is looking for a place to call home.
She lands in Millie’s Cabin Café, run by
ex-hockey player and lady’s man, Tom Shaw played by Chris LeBlanc.
Dan Canfield plays Orson Hubble, the likeable
and talkative misfit who is Tom’s only employee.
Their customers are a smart-mouthed beautician,
Bev Dupuis, aptly portrayed by Joanne Bracht, and Rachel Blessington, who
lives to gossip.
Bev Hasper plays Rachel,
and also directs the show. “This play is definitely an antidote for the winter blahs,” says Hasper. “The plays I direct usually tend toward drama, or if they are comedies, they have a serious message. Not this one though. This is pure delightful belly laugh time. Our audiences deserve it after all this snow, not to mention the serious stuff we are deluged with on a daily basis.” The play opens with a one-night special ticket price of $9. After that the regular price will be $12 with seniors and students getting in for $10. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM on Feb 22-23, 29, March 1, 7-8, and Sunday matinees at 3PM on Feb 24, March 2 and 9.
