On Golden Pond

On Golden Pond, a family drama with heart, written by Academy Award winner, Ernest Thompson is one of the most produced plays of modern times.  The play is filled with Professor Norman Thayer’s cranky but insightful humor and his wife Ethel’s caring and energetic spirit. They return to their beloved cottage on a lake called Golden Pond for their 48th summer.   There is a suggestion of senility in the air which gives Norman a growing sense of urgency to make peace with his long-estranged daughter, who comes to visit with her fiancé and his son in tow. The play explores the turbulent relationship the young woman had shared with her father when she was growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.  Brendon Brooks is a first time director, and is doing this as a high school senior project.  His father Randy Brooks will be playing Norman.
