This is a very recent play by the prolific American playwright, Lee Blessing.  His works have been nominated for both the Tony and the Pulitzer awards.  In A Body of Water, his characters bring up the haunting question of  “Who are we, and where do we come from.” Moss and Avis, an attractive, middle-aged couple, wake up one morning in an isolated summerhouse high above a picturesque body of water.  The weather is fine and the view is magnificent. The only problem they have is that neither of them can remember who they are.  When a young woman named Wren arrives, she brings them food and information.  Her information though is suspect because it is contradictory, and sometimes downright disturbing.
“Part of what I find interesting about this play,” says director, Cynthia Dano,  “Is that it was written with a certain ambiguity. It raises more questions than it answers, leaving audience members to come to their own conclusions, which can be different from person to person. I find this style to be more engaging for the audience.”

Dano also directed Picasso at the Lapin Agile in 2005.

Chris LeBlanc, who played the macho Captain Gloriosus in the recent musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, will be playing Moss. Chris has had many years of stage experience in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. He also was in Sadie Flynn last winter.

Joanne Brachtplays Avis. She is familiar to people who have been coming to Masquers in the last few years. Joanne is known for her wit, having played the hilarious hairdresser in Sadie Flynn, but in this one she plays it serious (most of the time).

Virginia Holman plays the mysterious young lady named Wren. She is known for her dancing, and was in The Picture of Dorian Gray last summer, and also A Mid-Summer Night's Dream at Moses Lake's Chapel Theater.
