The Renegade Minstrels will
bring their Frontier Blues music to Masquers Theater in Soap
Lake at 8 P.M. on May 16. They will feature traditional American
folk songs, spry and righteous swing and lonesome jazz ballads.
Their vocals include gospel-influenced harmonies that accentuate the
blues backbone of these American styles.
Renegade Minstrels center around
Joe Seamons. He sings and plays the guitar and harmonica. The
concert will also include some original compositions by Gavin Duffy
who will be doing vocals as well as playing piano and banjo. Other
members of this six-piece band are Will Gibbs, upright bass, Jon
Ramm-Gramenz, trombone, Luke Dennis, dobro, and Forest Carter, drums
and percussion.
Frontier Blues music
characterizes the American musical ethos with a spirit of
storytelling that is both wry and jovial. They are dedicated to
extending traditions through musical narrative. Through shared
interests and close friendship, the group continues to
develop a series of musical and visual programs exploring
relationships between America’s music, stories, images and
culture.
The Renegade Minstrel’s have
qualified to be in the American Masters classification.
